Mortehoe is a pretty coastal village surrounded by National Trust land in a marine conservation area. Rockham Beach is a short walk from the cottage. Morte Point, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, is almost on the doorstep - as is the South West Coast Path.

Woolacombe, the adjacent village, is famous for its perfect sandy beach which has repeatedly been named the best beach in Britain and among the top five in Europe. There are several other beaches in Woolacombe and a number of good restaurants too.

Other great surfing beaches like Croyde and Saunton are just a couple of miles away. Exmoor National Park isn’t much further. Mortehoe itself has cosy pubs, a Post Office, a 13th-century church and a shop where you can pick up warm croissants for breakfast.

Activities in the area include surfing, walking, sea-kayaking. coasteering, fishing, golf and of course lazing on the beach. You can find more information about the area from the local
tourist information centre. We have added some other useful local links here.
